Our History
So what does wine have to do with The Founding Fathers and American History?
Well, winemaking began in the U.S. shortly after Columbus arrived and was even an official goal of many colony charters. What started out a little rough, soon turned into some pretty decent wines. It was likely around this time that Ben Franklin said, "Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy."
It wasn't long before California wine country was discovered and America's 'New World' style Zinfandel took root, producing some truly incredible wines.
The Federalist Was Born
To honor our Founding Fathers and their love of wine, we created a collection of varietals as big and bold as the men themselves. Thus, The Federalist was born. We began with our flagship Visionary Zinfandel featuring the man who pioneered The Federalist Party, Alexander Hamilton.
We then expanded with our Dueling Pistols Red Blend, memorializing the duel in which Hamilton was mortally wounded by the Vice President of the United States, Aaron Burr.
We have since created a Chardonnay featuring the Statue of Liberty, a Cabernet Sauvignon featuring Ben Franklin, a Zinfandel featuring George Washington and a Honest Red Blend featuring Abraham Lincoln.
Our newest edition to the Federalist family is the Bourbon Barrel-Aged Zinfandel from Mendocino County! Aged in real bourbon barrels for six months, this wine portrays Alexander Hamilton, who met his demise at the end of a smoking barrel in the most famous duel in American history.
We invite you to explore our collection of exceptionally bold wines and discover what it means to taste A Wine With Principle. - Additional Information
